What recycled material would you use as a sound insulation material for a home?
Q. I live in a townhouse that shares a common wall with a neighbor who insists on using house as studio for his garage band. The noise is coming through my ceiling so I am thinking of laying some material in the ceiling. I'd prefer to recycle material. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

A. Use cellulose insulation. It's 99% recycled and has a better sound and fire rating than fiberglass, and is less costly. The party wall maybe part of the problem also. That can be solved by drilling holes in the wall and blowing cellulose in. That I would recommend an insulation contractor to do, If you've never done it before you could end up with dry wall screws popping.
